About

I’ve been working in the nonprofit and higher education fields for more than 15 years, providing communications expertise across a range of areas.

I have also been an ESL teacher in New York City and in China.

I grew up surrounded by cornfields in rural Illinois. I lived in China for a short time and then in New York City for 10 years. After several years in the Pacific Northwest (I miss you, Oregon coast), my wanderlust got the better of me. I’m now a little nomadic, with a sometimes-homebase in Southeastern Tennessee.

When I’m not working, I’m usually hiking, trying my hand at woodworking, or exploring the fiber arts through weaving, macrame,  beads, and embroidery. Or, I’m rereading an Octavia Butler book for the millionth time.
